Background

Bruno Deletré was born on 30 April 1961 in Valenciennes. He is a French banker and senior civil servant (haut fonctionnaire), trained at two of France's elite institutions: he graduated from the École Polytechnique in 1981 and the École Nationale d'Administration (ENA) in 1987.

He began his career in public finance, joining the Inspection Générale des Finances in 1987. In 1991 he moved to the Direction du Trésor (French Treasury), becoming head of the Africa / Zone Franc office in 1992, and served from 1995 to 1997 as a technical advisor in the cabinet of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. In 2008 he was called back into public service at the request of then-Finance Minister Christine Lagarde to help draft financial-regulation legislation.

Deletré entered the private sector in May 2001, joining the executive board of the Dexia Group, where he oversaw international business and the Project Finance division. After leaving Dexia in 2008, he became Director of BPCE International et Outre-mer and a member of the BPCE Executive Committee. In July 2011 he was appointed Directeur Général (CEO) of Crédit Foncier de France, the group's specialist real-estate and mortgage lender, a role he held until December 2017 (his successor Benoît Catel took over on 1 January 2018).

From January 2018 he moved to lead Groupe BPCE's regional savings banks in eastern France, chairing the board of the Caisse d'Épargne d'Alsace and then orchestrating the June 2018 merger of the Alsace and Lorraine Champagne-Ardenne savings banks to create Caisse d'Épargne Grand Est Europe (CEGEE), of which he became Président du Directoire. From 2019 to 2023 he also served as president of the Grand Est regional committee of the Fédération Bancaire Française (FBF). He was succeeded as head of CEGEE by Damien Cléris on 1 May 2026. Outside banking, Deletré is a lifelong musician — he studied violin at the Valenciennes Conservatory (1965–1977) and in 1989 founded "La Chapelle du Hainaut," a vocal ensemble specializing in sacred music.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • No documented angel-investment or venture thesis exists in public sources. Deletré's professional life has been as a public-finance official and a senior banking executive (Treasury, Dexia, BPCE, Crédit Foncier, Caisse d'Épargne), not as a startup investor.
  • His area of financial expertise is real-estate and mortgage finance, project finance, and retail/regional banking within the Groupe BPCE mutualist model.
  • The "Angel Investor / Seed Round / Chief Executive Officer & Member of the BPCE Executive Committee" framing in the source data appears to be a database mis-classification and could not be corroborated. Treat any seed/angel activity as unverified.

Notable Investments

  • No individual angel or venture-portfolio investments could be verified for Bruno Deletré. The public record documents corporate and institutional roles (Crédit Foncier de France, Caisse d'Épargne Grand Est Europe, BPCE International et Outre-mer, Dexia) rather than personal startup deals. Listing specific portfolio companies here would be fabrication and has been omitted.
