Background
Burton Stohl is the co-founder and a Managing Director of Ridgeview Capital, a lower-middle-market private equity firm he helped establish in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2003. He brings more than 40 years of investment and corporate-finance experience to the firm. His career began in 1967 in the Corporate Finance office of Dean Witter in Los Angeles, where he rose to direct the firm's Los Angeles and West Coast Corporate Finance departments and served as a member of Dean Witter's Corporate Finance Management Committee.
In 1997, Stohl left Dean Witter to form C. Burton Stohl & Co., a private advisory firm serving middle-market companies across the Mountain West and Southern California. Over his career he has advised boards of directors and owners of both publicly and privately held corporations across numerous industries, and he has contributed to the launch of several private-equity and venture-capital firms. He co-founded Ridgeview in 2003 to pursue a patient, relationship-driven approach to investing in western-U.S. businesses.
Stohl holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS from the University of Utah. He is married with three children.
