Carin Marcy Barth

Carin Marcy Barth is the co-founder and President of LB Capital, Inc., a Houston-based private equity firm she helped establish in 1988 that invests primarily in the energy, staffing, and financial services industries. In more recent years she has also served as an Operating Partner / Senior Advisor with Mountain Capital Management, LLC. She earned a B.S. from the University of Alabama, graduating summa cum laude, and an M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management.

Beyond her investing career, Barth has built an extensive record as a public-company director. She currently serves on the boards of Enterprise Holdings LLC (the general partner of Enterprise Products Partners L.P., NYSE: EPD), Black Stone Minerals, L.P. (NYSE: BSM), where she is lead director and chair of the Audit Committee, Group 1 Automotive, Inc. (NYSE: GPI), where she chairs the Audit Committee, and has chaired committees at Vertex Energy, Inc. Her prior board service includes Western Refining, Encore Bancshares, Amegy Bancorporation, BBVA USA Bancshares, Bill Barrett Corporation, and Halcon Resources Corporation.

Barth also has a notable record of public service. She was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as Chief Financial Officer of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) from 2004 to 2005. She was a Commissioner of the Texas Department of Public Safety from 2008 to 2014 and served on the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents from 1999 to 2005.

Civically, Barth is a Secretary and Director of The Welch Foundation (one of the largest private funders of chemical research in the U.S.), a board member of the Memorial Hermann Foundation, and was a director of the Ronald McDonald House of Houston for more than 20 years. Her recognitions include the NACD Directorship 100 Award, an honorary doctorate from Texas Tech University, and the University of Alabama Culverhouse Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award.
