Background

Celia Andreu is a Partner and the Head of Sustainability at MCH Private Equity, one of Spain's longest-established independent mid-market private equity firms (founded 1998, headquartered in Madrid, with over €1.3bn in AUM). She first joined MCH in 1999 as a trainee, then spent roughly two years in Boston as an Associate at Citizens Capital Inc., the private equity arm of Citizens Financial Group, before rejoining MCH permanently in September 2002.

Since her return, she has been active across the full investment lifecycle — sourcing, monitoring, and divesting portfolio companies — with a particular concentration in the industrial, retail, and consumer-products sectors. She has held board and advisory roles at several MCH portfolio companies, including Masvisión and Brasmar (as director/advisor), and currently sits on the boards of TCI Cutting and Molecor.

In 2021 she was appointed Head of Sustainability of the firm, tasked with leading the implementation of MCH's ESG framework across both the management company and the portfolio companies of all funds it manages. In that role she works with portfolio companies to build strategies that generate "economic, social, and environmental value."

She holds dual degrees in Law and in Business Administration & Management, both from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE, E-3) in Madrid. She is also a member of Level 20, the organization promoting gender diversity in the private equity industry.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests through MCH's institutional PE funds (e.g., MCH Iberian Capital Fund series and SOPEF), not as a personal angel — targets established, profitable Iberian mid-market businesses rather than seed-stage startups.
  • Typical equity investment of roughly €15M–€45M per company (firm-level range).
  • Sector emphasis on industrial innovation, food/agribusiness, and health, alongside business services, consumer/retail, and technology.
  • Geography anchored in Spain and Portugal, with at least 80% of committed capital deployed in Spain.
  • As Head of Sustainability, she integrates ESG criteria into the investment process and drives sustainability strategy across the portfolio — a meaningful "how we invest" differentiator for founders/owners who value responsible-investment credentials.
  • Personal deal experience skews toward industrial, retail, and consumer-products companies, where she has done sourcing, monitoring, and exits.

Notable Investments

  • Molecor — developer of molecular-orientation (PVC-O) technology for pressurized water pipes; MCH invested (Fund V) around August 2020. Celia sits on its board.
  • TCI Cutting — industrial cutting-technology manufacturer (laser, waterjet, plasma); MCH entered its capital via the SOPEF fund. Celia sits on its board.
  • Brasmar — Portuguese processor and distributor of frozen and refrigerated seafood; MCH investment around June 2016. Celia served as director/advisor.
  • Masvisión — optical retail chain; Celia served as a director during MCH's ownership.
