Charles Wong

Charles Wong is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of TNB Aura, a Singapore-headquartered, thesis-led venture capital firm building the early-stage tech ecosystem across Southeast Asia. TNB Aura operates as the regional VC arm associated with Aura Group (hence his [hidden] address), and Charles leads the firm's venture initiatives, drawing on a background spanning fund management, venture capital, and private equity.

Before TNB Aura, Charles founded Capital Associates, a boutique advisory serving mid-market VC funds across Asia, and worked as a management consultant at Booz & Company, where he focused on corporate strategy, private-equity transactions, and M&A. He also spent time on the operating side as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Groupon in Shanghai, giving him firsthand exposure to scaling a consumer-internet business in Asia.

Academically, Charles graduated from Harvard Business School as a George F. Baker Scholar (top 5% of his class) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales, where he graduated with first-class honours and received the University Medal. Alongside his fund role, he holds directorships within the Aura Group / Aura Ventures structure and has served as a board member at portfolio company ION Mobility.

• Runs a high-conviction, "outbound" investing model — proactively sourcing and building conviction around specific theses rather than waiting for inbound deal flow. Charles has publicly contrasted "inbound vs. outbound" investing as central to how TNB Aura operates in Southeast Asia.
• Thesis-led and data-driven: the firm targets businesses that close regional development gaps and align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, framing impact and returns together (see its 2024 Impact Report).
• Sector-agnostic but tech-forward, with recurring bets in fintech, edtech, agritech, telehealth, logistics, industrial automation/IoT, D2C/social commerce, and smart-city infrastructure.
