Chris Jin

Chris Jin is a Partner at SAIF Partners, one of Asia's leading private equity and venture capital firms, which was founded in 2001 and manages over US$4 billion in assets. He joined SAIF in April 2010 from HSBC's investment banking team and is today identified as a Managing Partner and Head of the firm's Creek Labs Initiatives. SAIF maintains local investment teams across mainland China — including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Qingdao, and Nanjing — and invests primarily in the greater China region across internet+ & TMT, healthcare & new materials, and clean technology sectors.

Jin came to investing from a legal and investment-banking background. Between 2004 and 2007 he worked at China Euro Securities Limited — a China joint venture of CLSA — as Executive Director of Investment Banking and Chief Counsel. Earlier in his career he held roles at the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (Issuance Review Department), the China Securities Regulatory Commission (on secondment), the Hong Kong office of law firm White & Case, and the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China, before his time at HSBC.

He holds a Master of Law (LL.M.) from New York University and a Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) from Peking University. He is a member of the New York State Bar and is also qualified to practice law in China. This combination of securities-regulation, cross-border legal, and investment-banking experience underpins his role structuring privately negotiated equity and equity-linked investments for the firm.
