Background

Chris Warren is a Partner in the Deal Team at Charterhouse Capital Partners, the London-headquartered private equity firm founded in 1934 that invests in mid-market companies across Western Europe. He joined Charterhouse in 2013 and works primarily on transactions in the UK & Ireland.

Before Charterhouse, Warren spent ten years at ECI Partners, a UK mid-market growth-focused private equity firm, where he completed a number of transactions across a wide range of sectors. Earlier in his career he worked at BC Partners, one of Europe's large-cap buyout houses, and began in strategy consulting with COBA in its Strategy and Private Equity Group.

He was educated at the University of Oxford, where he earned an MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE), and holds an MBA from INSEAD.

At Charterhouse, Warren invests from the firm's flagship European buyout funds (the firm has raised more than €17 billion across its fund series and completed 150+ investments). Charterhouse pursues a selective, conviction-led strategy, taking control positions in established businesses and partnering with management teams to drive transformational growth; the firm became a certified B Corporation in 2025.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests through Charterhouse's European buyout funds in control / majority buyouts of established mid-market companies — not early-stage or angel/seed deals.
  • Target enterprise values of ~€150m–€1.5bn, backing profitable, market-leading businesses with strong management.
  • Sector focus on Services and Healthcare, with additional activity in specialised Industrials and Consumer.
  • Geographic focus on Western Europe, with Warren personally concentrating on UK & Ireland deals.
  • Charterhouse describes its approach as connecting "expertise and capital, collaborating with ambitious management teams to unlock transformational change" — a hands-on, partnership-driven ownership model rather than passive minority investing.

Notable Investments

  • Two Circles — global sports and entertainment data/marketing agency; Charterhouse acquired a majority stake in January 2024 (reported at roughly £250m / ~$300m), from Bruin Capital.
  • Comexposium — one of the world's largest events and exhibition organisers.
  • Mirion Technologies — radiation detection, measurement and monitoring technology company.
  • Sagemcom — French provider of broadband, connected-home and energy/telecom devices.
  • SLR Consulting — international environmental and sustainability advisory firm.
