Cicely Leemhuis

Cicely Toosje Leemhuis is a London-based lawyer with over 20 years of experience across funds, private equity, credit, special situations and distressed investing — including contentious situations, enforcements and restructurings — spanning multiple asset classes and jurisdictions. She is a qualified solicitor in England & Wales (SRA / Law Society registered) and began her legal career in Toronto, Canada.

She started out as a banking associate at Goodmans in Toronto, then moved into private practice as a senior associate at Clifford Chance. She subsequently joined J.P. Morgan as a Vice President in the bank's Structured Credit Group. Moving into in-house leadership roles, she served as Deputy General Counsel (and Executive Director, Legal) at VTB Capital in London, and then as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Gemcorp Capital, a London-headquartered emerging-markets private-credit asset manager founded in 2014.

In 2022 she joined Zetland Capital Partners, a European special-situations and distressed-debt investment firm, as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer — her current role. Her stated areas of expertise include securities, investment banking, corporate finance, project finance and equities.

Leemhuis holds a BCL and LLB from McGill University's Faculty of Law and a BA (Honours) in History and Political Science from McGill University's Faculty of Arts.
