Claire Chiang See Ngoh

Claire Chiang See Ngoh (born 4 October 1951, Singapore) is a Singaporean entrepreneur, social activist, and former Nominated Member of Parliament. She was educated at Raffles Girls' Primary and Secondary Schools, earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in sociology from the University of Singapore (now the National University of Singapore), completed a translation programme at the Sorbonne in Paris, and obtained a master's degree in sociology from the University of Hong Kong in 1985. She worked as a research sociologist at NUS before moving into business.

In 1994, Chiang co-founded Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts with her husband, Ho Kwon Ping, opening the group's first resort in Phuket, Thailand. As Senior Vice President she pioneered the group's retail arm (Banyan Tree Gallery), leads China business development, and oversees human-capital strategy and the group's corporate social responsibility agenda. She chairs the Banyan Tree Global Foundation. Over three decades the company has grown into what is today Banyan Group — a portfolio of roughly 13 brands and about 100 hotels and resorts (plus spas, galleries and branded residences) across some 24 countries.

Beyond Banyan, Chiang has been a prominent voice in Singaporean civic life. She was among the first two women admitted to the council of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (1995), served as a Nominated Member of Parliament from 1997 to 2001, was president of AWARE (from 1993) and the Society Against Family Violence, and chaired Wildlife Reserves Singapore (2008–2015) and the National Book Development Council of Singapore. She was appointed Justice of the Peace in 2008, received the Public Service Medal (PBM, 2008) and Public Service Star (BBM, 2014), and was inducted into the Singapore Women's Hall of Fame in 2018.
