Cynthia Niekamp

Cynthia A. Niekamp is a veteran C-suite operating executive with more than 30 years of P&L leadership across global automotive, chemical, paper, and industrial businesses. She began her career at General Motors in manufacturing leadership roles and later held leadership positions at TRW, Inc. She earned a bachelor's degree with distinction in industrial engineering from Purdue University (a Purdue Distinguished Engineering Alumni honoree) and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

From 1995 to 2004 she rose through Mead Corporation and its successor MeadWestvaco Corporation, serving as vice president of corporate strategy and planning (1995), president of the Specialty Paper Division (1998), then senior vice president of strategy and specialty operations, and finally as senior vice president and chief financial officer of MeadWestvaco — the source of the legacy MeadWestvaco email in the stub record. She subsequently served as president and general manager of BorgWarner Inc.'s TorqTransfer Systems (four-wheel-drive systems) business.

From 2009 to 2016 she was senior vice president of Automotive Coatings at PPG Industries, Inc., where she led a roughly $3 billion global division spanning some 200 sites and 15+ countries with thousands of employees, with a mandate that included financial performance improvement and sustainability/emissions-reduction initiatives. Since leaving full-time operating roles, she has focused on corporate board service and on mentoring senior executives — currently as a mentor/coach with The ExCo Group and through her own Niekamp Coaching & Advisory practice, holding coaching certifications from the Center for Executive Coaching and the International Coaching Federation. She is founder and co-chair of the Detroit Chapter of Women Corporate Directors.

She currently sits on the boards of Ball Corporation (NYSE: BALL), which she joined in 2016 and where she serves on the Human Resources and Finance committees, and PACCAR Inc (NASDAQ: PCAR), where she has been a director since 2023. Her prior public-company directorships include Magna International Inc. (2014–2022), Cooper Tire & Rubber Company (2011–2014), Rockwood Holdings, Inc. (2006–2009), and Delphi Corporation (2003–2005).
