Danesh Varma

Danesh Kumar Varma (born January 1950, in Poona/Pune, India; British nationality, resident in England) is a chartered accountant and corporate-finance veteran with more than four decades of experience across banking, corporate finance, and accounting. He qualified as a chartered accountant and trained internationally, with early roles including audit work at Touche Ross in Delhi, Price Waterhouse in Jamaica, and articles at Baron Rowles in London (1970–1975), followed by senior positions at Touche Ross in Montreal and Toronto (1976–1987). He holds chartered-accountancy credentials across multiple jurisdictions (England, Canada, Bermuda, and India).

Varma built his career largely in the junior mining and natural-resources sector, sitting on the boards of numerous mining companies as Finance Director / Chief Financial Officer. He joined the board of Anglesey Mining plc in November 1994 and served for nearly three decades as Finance Director (until 14 November 2023) and Company Secretary (until 17 January 2024), where the stub email and phone number originate. He has also been associated with the Grängesberg iron-ore project (in Sweden) since 2007.

Across his career he has held CFO, secretary, and director roles at a cluster of interlinked resource companies including Minco plc / Minco Mining, Xtierra Inc., Conquest Resources Ltd., Buchans Resources Inc., Labrador Iron Mines Holdings Ltd., Grängesberg Iron AB, Connemara Mining plc, and Odyssey Mission Ltd. Companies House lists him with dozens of past and present UK directorships, reflecting a long career structuring and financing small-cap and exploration companies.

Today Varma runs Global Preservation Strategies Ltd., an FCA-regulated asset-management firm based in the City of London, and serves as a Non-Executive Director of Crowd for Angels (UK) Limited, an FCA-authorised equity and debt crowdfunding platform. It is this crowdfunding/angel-network role that anchors his classification as an angel/seed-stage investor.
