Background

Daniel Daboczy is a Stockholm-based serial entrepreneur, investor, and contemporary-art curator. Born in Transylvania, he has lived in Sweden since 1989. His first career was in the arts: he holds a background in Art History and International Curating and spent over a decade lecturing on curating and project management at Stockholm University before moving into technology and finance around 2008–2009.

Daboczy is best known as the co-founder and long-time CEO of FundedByMe, launched in Sweden in 2011 and one of Europe's first and fastest-growing equity- and rewards-based crowdfunding platforms. Under his leadership the company connected investors with entrepreneurs, expanded internationally through joint ventures in Singapore, Malaysia, and Dubai, and — by the company's own accounts — helped fund more than 650 companies and channel roughly €72 million / $85 million in capital. He took the business public before stepping down as CEO in November 2020. Prior to FundedByMe he served as CEO of the online video-hosting service Dabber, and he has also been associated with Feminvest.

Since leaving FundedByMe's helm, Daboczy has held a string of executive and board roles. In February 2021 he was named CEO of Singapore-based Technicorum Holdings (creator of the KingSwap DeFi/NFT platform), and he has led or advised crypto/Web3 ventures including Influencio and Qrypt Technologies. In 2022 he acquired the assets of Swedish/Singaporean electric-vehicle maker UNITI and restructured it, becoming Executive Chairman and Co-Founder. Most recently he founded HAS – Helix Art Space, a contemporary-art and cross-disciplinary venue on the 16th floor of Norra Tornen in Stockholm, bringing his career full circle back to the art world. He has also served as a board member of Intellego Technologies.

He has been recognized with honors such as "Disruptor of the Year," the European FinTech Awards, and a "Supertalent – Financial Prodigies" distinction, and FundedByMe was listed among Wired UK's Top 100 Startups.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests at the seed / earliest stage, reflecting the FundedByMe philosophy of democratizing access to startup capital and backing founders before institutional money arrives.
  • Sector-agnostic but with demonstrated appetite across consumer/creative brands, software/adtech, beverages, mobility, and blockchain/Web3 — mirroring his own operating ventures.
  • Believes strongly in crowdfunding and decentralization as tools to open early-stage finance to a broader base; his platform's premise was "financial support for startups and growth companies around the globe."
  • Values founders who can tell a story and build a community — his crowdfunding roots reward companies that can rally a crowd of backers/customers, and his newer work (Influencio) centers on influencer-driven amplification.
  • Comfortable operating internationally and in emerging categories (crypto, EVs, NFTs), signaling openness to novel, technology-shaped or culturally-driven bets.

Notable Investments

  • Adverty — in-game/immersive advertising technology company; seed-round investment (documented May 2017).
  • Virtuous Vodka — Swedish organic/premium spirits brand (beverages).
  • Nordic Poster Collective — specialty design/retail (art prints and posters).
  • UNITI Motors — Swedish/Singaporean electric-vehicle startup; Daboczy acquired its assets in 2022 and became Co-Founder/Executive Chairman (ARC Group later invested US $1.5M into UNITI).
  • FundedByMe — his own co-founded and publicly listed crowdfunding platform, the anchor of his portfolio and network.
