Background
Daniel K. Doyle co-founded Symmetric Capital in 2007 and serves as Managing Partner, co-managing the firm's day-to-day operations and investment activities. He has more than twenty years of experience in private equity and investment banking. Symmetric is a Waltham, Massachusetts–based firm managing over $200 million in committed capital, targeting growth-equity and buyout investments in the U.S. and Canada.
Doyle began his private equity career in 1990 at Summit Partners in Boston, where he helped establish the firm's growth buyout and recapitalization group. In 1997 he co-founded Shawmut Capital, a Boston-based private equity fund, together with Joel Alvord — the former Chairman of Shawmut Bank and of its acquirer, Fleet Financial. Shawmut Capital focused on profitable growth companies in the financial and business-services sectors. His prior board seats and investments over that career include companies such as Academic Management Services, Acurex, and Air Serv.
According to the firm, its principals have — since 1990 — invested in more than 40 growth companies across a range of industries and helped entrepreneurs raise over $1.2 billion in capital. Doyle co-manages Symmetric alongside fellow Managing Partner Robert V. Walsh, with Mary Murphy Westover serving as CFO.
Doyle is a graduate of Harvard College, where he earned an A.B. in Economics. He is married with two sons.
