Background
Daniel Ibri is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Mindset Ventures, a cross-border early-stage venture firm he launched in mid-2016 with the idea of being the first Latin American VC to build a bridge between entrepreneurs in the US and Israel and the Latin American market. He has more than a decade of venture experience, having closed 100+ deals across six countries and founded three VC funds over his career.
He entered the tech and entrepreneurship ecosystem around 2009 through management consulting in Brazil, where he led strategic planning, financial structuring, turnaround, and M&A projects for SMEs while mentoring startups. At the end of 2011 he left consulting to start his first venture capital fund in Brazil, Grid Investments, before founding Mindset in 2016. The Mindset team is distributed across three geographies — Israel, the US, and São Paulo — and the firm has raised four funds, managing roughly $120 million and backing approximately 70–75 companies over nearly a decade.
Beyond investing, Ibri is a professor of finance and entrepreneurship at INSPER in São Paulo and has served on the Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Seed Capital Committee of ABVCAP (the Brazilian Association for Private Equity & Venture Capital). He holds a bachelor's in Business Management from FGV-EAESP, an MBA in business strategy, and a venture capital specialization from UC Berkeley-Haas, along with executive programs at Singularity University, Harvard, and Babson College. He was named one of the most influential investors of 2018 by Venture360.
In June 2025, Ibri expanded the platform by launching Mindset Music, a dedicated MusicTech fund co-founded with Grammy-winning composer Cantor Santiago, backed by an advisory bench of music-industry veterans.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests primarily in B2B software companies based in the US or Israel that are early-stage but already have proven traction or revenue — most commonly around the Series A stage.
- Stage range: Seed to Series B; sweet spot at Series A, including bridges, extensions, and convertibles. Check sizes of ~$500K (Seed) and ~$1.5M–$2M (Series A/B), with meaningful follow-on reserves.
- Sector breadth: enterprise/B2B SaaS, fintech, healthtech and AI, cybersecurity, and agtech; via Mindset Music, B2B tools across music, sound, and audio tech.
- Founder preference: "at least two co-founders with complementary experiences and skills, preferably with previous experience and track-record in their industry or as former entrepreneurs."
- Discipline philosophy: "Be more afraid of losing a great deal than investing in a bad company."
- MusicTech thesis: "The music tech space is extremely undervalued and has an enormous potential for disruption with AI and other new technologies" — favoring tools that help creators work faster, rights holders maximize assets, and consumers engage more deeply, rather than volatile entertainment bets.
