Background
Danielle Garland is an Investment Director in the London Buyout team of Palatine Private Equity, which she joined in June 2022. She works on deal origination, transaction execution, and partnering with management teams to deliver their strategy after investment. She describes her work as "teaming up with management teams to help them with the next stage of their growth journey," and cited Palatine's "impressive, collaborative and down to earth approach" as her reason for joining.
Before Palatine, she spent roughly six years (2016–2022) at Mobeus Equity Partners, a UK growth- and buyout-capital firm, where she was appointed Investment Manager on 21 September 2016 and worked on the buyout investment team. Earlier in her career she spent nearly eight years at KPMG, latterly as a Manager in the Transaction Services team of the firm's Private Equity Group, with M&A experience dating back to 2008.
She holds a First Class BSc in Mathematics with Economics from University College London (UCL) and is both a Chartered Accountant (ACA) and a CFA charter holder.
Beyond dealmaking, Garland is a long-standing advocate for diversity in private equity, having founded a series of networking events connecting female investors, founders and advisors across the PE community. On joining, Palatine partner Tony Dickin noted she "brings significant experience in key sectors such as business and financial services."
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests through Palatine's Buyout Fund V (£254m) into UK lower-mid-market companies — an equity/buyout mandate, not angel or seed cheques.
- Focus sectors: business & financial services and tech-enabled / IT services; she has led or co-led Palatine's tech-services deals.
- Backs founder- and management-led businesses, often as the first institutional investor, to support the "next stage of their growth journey."
- Palatine emphasises sustainable / responsible value creation alongside financial returns — a lens Garland works within.
- On what makes her say yes: she praised OryxAlign as "already a stand-out player in its market place led by an ambitious and talented CEO and leadership team" — signalling a preference for market-leading positions plus strong, ambitious leadership.
Notable Investments
- Ventrica (Mobeus, ~2019) — European award-winning outsourced contact-centre / customer-experience specialist; Garland sourced and led this £9m investment for Mobeus.
- OryxAlign (Palatine, 2026) — IT managed-services / data-centre-focused firm; the second deal from Palatine's £254m Buyout Fund V, backing a buy-and-build acquisition strategy.
