Background

Daphna Cohen-Gersht is a lawyer and finance executive who spent much of her career at Pitango Venture Capital, one of Israel's largest and oldest venture firms. She joined Pitango in 2001 as a Legal Partner, where she was responsible for monitoring the progress and financial position of the fund's portfolio companies, tracking changes in the fund's equity holdings and legal rights in each company, and managing Pitango's legal matters relating to portfolio companies and investment transactions from the outset of each deal to its conclusion.

Before Pitango, she was legal counsel to Poalim Capital Markets — a subsidiary and the investment arm of Bank Hapoalim — and earlier practiced corporate finance and securities law at Ne'eman, Ben Artzi & Co., a Tel Aviv law firm. She holds an LL.B. from Tel Aviv University and an M.B.A. from the University of Derby.

More recently she has moved into operating executive roles at technology companies. She served as Head of Legal and Financial Services at HERE Mobility (part of HERE Technologies), and subsequently as Chief Finance and Legal Officer at 4M Analytics, a startup building a mapping/analytics platform for underground infrastructure. Her profile is that of a combined legal-and-finance leader with deep venture-capital transaction experience, rather than that of an independent angel investor.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • No personal, publicly documented angel-investing thesis or individual check-writing activity was found. Her investment exposure came through her role at Pitango Venture Capital, on the legal and financial side of the fund's deals.
  • Pitango itself invests across seed to growth stages in Israeli and Israeli-founded technology companies, spanning enterprise/SaaS, fintech, healthtech, and deeptech.
  • Her value-add within the venture context was structuring and closing investment transactions and overseeing the legal/financial governance of portfolio companies — not sourcing or leading deals.

Notable Investments

  • No individual investments are attributable to Daphna Cohen-Gersht in public records. As a Legal Partner at Pitango she supported the fund's transactions broadly, but specific deals are not credited to her personally, and no personal angel portfolio was found. *(Listing Pitango's portfolio companies here as "her" investments would be inaccurate.)*
