Background
Darren Glatt is a Partner at Searchlight Capital Partners, a global private-equity firm founded in 2010 with more than $15 billion (and, per more recent reporting, over $18 billion) in assets under management across offices in New York, London, and Toronto. Glatt oversees the firm's North American efforts in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) sectors and serves as Searchlight's Head of Infrastructure Investing. He joined the firm in 2013.
Before Searchlight, Glatt was a Partner in the Private Equity Group at Apollo Management, L.P., where he pursued both equity and credit investments across TMT, consumer, leisure, and shipping. Earlier in his career he held positions at Apax Partners and The Cypress Group, and he began his career at Bear Stearns in New York in 1998. Across these roles he built a concentrated TMT track record, describing having invested over $6 billion across 18 TMT investments.
Glatt holds a BS from The George Washington University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
He is an active board member across Searchlight's TMT and infrastructure portfolio. Current and recent board seats include Bezeq, B Communications Ltd., All Points Broadband, Wecom Fiber, Mainstream Fiber Networks, and Adams Outdoor Advertising. He has also previously served on the boards of Charter Communications, Rackspace Technology, PatientPoint, Ocean Outdoor, 160over90, MediaMath, PlayPower, Veritable Maritime, and Core Media.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests at the control/large-equity end of the market, not seed or angel — targeting established TMT and infrastructure businesses rather than early-stage startups.
- Sector conviction in TMT and digital infrastructure: cable and fiber broadband (All Points Broadband, Wecom Fiber, Mainstream Fiber), telecom operators (Bezeq/B Communications), and media/advertising platforms.
- Out-of-home advertising is a repeated theme (Adams Outdoor, Ocean Outdoor, and speaking roles at DailyDOOH investor conferences); on the Adams deal Glatt stated that out-of-home "plays an important role in the advertising ecosystem."
- Comfortable with complex, structured, and cross-border situations — including both equity and credit — a legacy of his Apollo background.
- Backs businesses where operational scaling and infrastructure build-out (e.g., rural/underserved broadband expansion) drive value creation.
