Background

David Brian Camp was born May 9, 1957, in Van Nuys, California, to Patricia and Calvin Camp. He grew up in the San Fernando Valley, graduating from Grant High School in 1975, where he was a standout basketball player and earned MVP honors. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a Master of Business Administration (Accounting and Finance) from the University of Southern California. He was a Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.).

Camp spent the bulk of his career in entertainment finance. From roughly 1995 to 2015 he worked at Warner Bros. International Television (including Warner Channel Latin America), most recently as Senior Vice President of Finance and Operations, where he managed all finance, planning, and budgeting functions for the international television distribution business — a tenure of more than 20 years.

In 2016 he became Chief Financial Officer of the Motion Picture Industry Pension & Health Plans (MPIPHP), a Studio City–based set of trust funds established through collective bargaining between motion picture industry unions and employers. As CFO he oversaw finance and accounting, retirement benefits, audit and collections, residuals and deposits, employer contracts, and contribution processing. He held the role until his retirement in the fall of 2024.

David Camp passed away on June 5, 2026, at age 69. He was survived by his wife Tricia, his three daughters (Erin, Tara, and Meaghan), stepchildren, grandchildren, and his brother James. Outside of work he was known as a tennis player, Grateful Dead fan, Dodgers and Lakers supporter, wine collector, and owner of a wine-storage business, The Wine Box.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • No personal investment thesis is on record. Camp was a corporate/fund CFO, not an angel or venture investor; he did not publicly state a thesis, check size, or sector focus for personal investing.
  • In his institutional role, his financial stewardship was directed at the fiduciary management of pension and health trust assets for motion picture industry beneficiaries — i.e., long-horizon institutional asset management governed by ERISA/Taft-Hartley rules, not early-stage equity investing.
  • Any tool or list presenting him as a seed-stage angel investor should be treated as a misclassification pending direct confirmation.

Notable Investments

  • None verifiable. No public record of angel, seed, or venture investments by David Camp was found. (Listing any would require fabrication, which has been avoided.)
  • His professional remit involved oversight of MPIPHP's institutional trust-fund finances rather than discrete startup investments.
