David Fulcher

David C. Fulcher is the Chief Financial Officer of Ascend Partner Services LLC, a platform built to help entrepreneurial CPA firms grow while preserving local independence. Ascend’s website says the company provides partner firms with resources and capital for talent, mergers, and technology, and notes that it is backed by Alpine Investors.

Before Ascend, Fulcher spent close to a decade at Harren Equity Partners, a lower-middle-market private equity firm. Public profile sources list him as a Vice President / private equity investor at Harren from 2014 to 2023. Harren’s own investment materials describe the firm as focused on operationally oriented partnerships with management teams, including acquisitions, recapitalizations, growth capital financings, and add-on investments.

Earlier in his career, Fulcher worked at Barclays Capital / Barclays Investment Bank as an analyst from 2012 to 2014. He graduated from the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business with a finance background; his Ascend bio says he began his career in the Financial Institutions Group at a large investment bank in New York City.

At Ascend, Fulcher is part of the leadership team and signs securities filings as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Ascend Partners Topco LP and Ascend Partners Holdings LLC. His Ascend bio says he is focused on supporting Ascend’s mission to empower entrepreneurial CPAs and help build an industry-leading accounting-services platform.

• Fulcher should be treated as a former private-equity investor and current operating CFO, not as a verified seed-stage angel investor. I found no reliable evidence that he is currently making angel or seed investments.
• Harren’s thesis is operationally oriented lower-middle-market private equity. The firm says its strategy is to create long-term value by improving operational performance, providing strategic analysis, and executing plans with portfolio-company executives.
• Harren’s stated target profile includes companies with $20 million to $200 million in revenue, strong management teams, growth potential, high return on operating capital, defensible market positions, and predictable product life cycles.
• Harren’s later Fund IV sourcing notice says the firm is targeting new platforms with at least $5 million EBITDA across Manufacturing & Distribution, Business & Technology Services, Healthcare Services, and Industrial Services.
• Ascend’s current platform focus is entrepreneurial CPA firms. Ascend says its partner firms operate independently under their own leadership while receiving resources and capital for talent, mergers, and technology.
