Background

David Moross is a veteran consumer-sector private equity investor whose career spans more than three decades. He began at Whitehall Financial Group in 1993, rising to Vice Chairman. In 1998 he partnered with the late Mark McCormack of IMG — the world's premier sports marketing and management company — to found Sports Capital Partners, described as the first institutionally managed sports media and sports investment fund. After its first fund, the firm was renamed Falconhead Capital, an investment firm owned by Moross that invested across sports, media & entertainment, recreational equipment & apparel, personal care & wellness, food & beverage, and consumer services. He served as Falconhead's Chairman & CEO from 1998 to 2019.

In 2019, Moross co-founded HighPost Capital alongside Mark Bezos (a former consumer-brand developer and brother of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos). HighPost is a private investment firm focused on the global consumer and consumer technology sectors, seeking family-controlled and entrepreneur-led companies. Moross serves as Founder & CEO of the firm and chairs its investment committee. HighPost raised approximately $535 million for its debut fund and built a portfolio spanning consumer brands and consumer-tech companies. In May 2025, Italy's Azimut Group announced it was taking a controlling interest in HighPost Capital.

Moross earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. He is active in philanthropy and civic roles: a Trustee of the Silver Shield Foundation and of the Weizmann Institute of Science, and a member of the University of Texas Development Board. He has also served as a Board Director of the NY Fund for Public Health and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and was a Vice Chairman of the 2014 NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests in the global consumer and consumer technology sectors, spanning sports/media, food & beverage, personal care & wellness, apparel/recreation, and consumer services.
  • Targets family-controlled and entrepreneur-led companies that "share a differentiated approach to value creation" (HighPost's stated approach).
  • Operates at growth-equity and control/buyout scale rather than early seed — Falconhead was a control-PE firm; HighPost pursues growth and control positions with fund-scale checks.
  • Emphasizes brand-building and operating expertise, drawing on Moross's long history investing in sports, lifestyle, and consumer brands and HighPost's operator-led model.
