Background

David R. Soares is President and CEO of Lexden Capital, a New York-based firm focused on project investment and finance for commercial real estate and infrastructure. Lexden says he oversees company operations, business pipeline, marketing, investor relationships, new loan and investment programs, new product development, and asset management for Lexden and its affiliates.

Soares was educated in London and, according to his LinkedIn profile, attended the University of London from 1979 to 1983. He moved to New York in 1984 and has spent more than 30 years in finance and real estate investment, with a focus on real estate finance, investment, risk management, underwriting, due diligence, and transaction closing.

He began originating directly in 1996 and has been responsible for more than $3 billion of infrastructure and real estate finance across equity, short-term debt, construction loans, permanent mortgages, mezzanine debt, and equity financing. He is also a founding Managing Partner of North Hill Capital Management, a Lexden Capital bridge-loan fund formed in 2005 that has originated more than $300 million in commercial bridge loans.

Before founding Lexden Capital, Soares was president of Berkshire Capital Financial for eight years, overseeing debt origination, loan-program modeling, fundraising, investment committees, and investor relations. He was also a founding managing partner of Berkshire Capital Group, which bought and sold more than $400 million of commercial real estate between 2003 and 2008. He later served as Chair of the Finance Committee for Smart Cities Council, organizing municipal education on public-private partnerships and bringing capital providers into the council’s supporting membership.
