Background
David Weisburd is the co-founder and co-head of venture capital at 10X Capital, an alternative asset management firm providing institutional investors with access to strategies across venture capital, private credit, private equity/growth equity, infrastructure, and real estate. Weisburd has raised over $2 billion in institutional capital throughout his career. He immigrated to the United States with his family with only a few hundred dollars and built himself into one of the most connected and prolific figures in the venture capital ecosystem. He holds a BS in Management and Entrepreneurship from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business (2008), an MBA from Dartmouth College's Tuck School of Business (2012), and a Master's degree in Psychology from Harvard University.
Before joining 10X Capital, Weisburd was a serial entrepreneur and venture investor. He was on the founding teams of two venture-backed startups: isocket, an ad marketplace that raised over $15 million in venture funding before being acquired by Rubicon Project (Nasdaq: RUBI), and RoomHunt, a next-generation rental marketplace that was acquired by RentLingo, Inc. In 2012, he founded Growth Technology Partners (GTP), a San Francisco-based venture capital firm that completed over $120 million in primary and secondary transactions, including investments in four of the top 15 companies on the Wall Street Journal Unicorn List. GTP's portfolio included 23andMe, Circle, Palantir, Pipefy, Ripple, Tonal, Vicarious, and Wish. Weisburd was also a partner at Flight Ventures, a firm with a prolific track record investing in Carta, Cruise, Discord, Dollar Shave Club, Fastly (NYSE: FSLY), LinkedIn, PayPal (Nasdaq: PYPL), Rent the Runway, and Wealthfront.
In 2019, 10X Capital acquired Growth Technology Partners, bringing Weisburd into the firm. At 10X Capital, he led investments in Robinhood, Compass Therapeutics, Headspace, and DraftKings. The firm also launched multiple SPACs: 10X Capital Venture Acquisition Corp (raised $175 million, November 2020), 10X Capital Venture Acquisition Corp II ($200 million filing), and 10X Capital Venture Acquisition Corp III (raised $261 million, January 2022), all targeting high-growth technology and tech-enabled businesses. Beyond investing, Weisburd has become one of the most prominent voices in the institutional investing world through his two podcasts: "How I Invest with David Weisburd," which interviews the world's leading limited partners (including The Ford Foundation, Northwestern University Endowment, CalPERS, and StepStone), and the "10X Capital Podcast," which covers investment decision frameworks, capital allocation strategies, and GP/LP dynamics. The "How I Invest" podcast has published nearly 300 episodes and receives over 300,000 downloads per month.
