Background
Dawn Owens is a longtime healthcare operator turned investor with more than 25 years in the industry. She spent roughly 15 years in executive leadership at UnitedHealth Group, including earlier roles at UnitedHealthcare and OptumInsight before serving five years as CEO of OptumHealth, a multi-line Optum/UnitedHealth Group business. During her tenure she grew OptumHealth and pushed the company deeper into healthcare financing, care delivery, consumer engagement, and early value-based-care models.
She joined TripleTree Holdings (TTH) in 2015 as President, brought in by founder and 22-year CEO Kevin Green to scale the Minneapolis-based, healthcare-exclusive merchant bank and to plan for a founder succession. In July 2020 the board named her CEO, with Green moving to Executive Chairman. In late 2021, Capital One acquired the TripleTree investment-banking advisory business (closed November 2021), while the principal-investing arm — TTCP Management Services, LLC, doing business as TT Capital Partners — remained an independent, Minneapolis-based investor in healthcare technology and services, with Owens as CEO and Partner.
Under Owens, the investment firm reached roughly $1 billion in assets under management by late 2024, closed its second fund (TTCP Fund II), and completed a third fundraise (TTCP Fund III) in September 2025. In April 2026 the firm rebranded from TT Capital Partners to Truehelm. Owens sits on the firm's Investment, Risk & Compliance, Valuation, and ESG committees.
Owens holds a B.A. in International Business and German from Grove City College, where she serves on the Board of Trustees (Executive Committee member). Over her career she has held numerous portfolio and healthcare board seats, including CareConnectMD, MacroHealth, Wildflower Health, InHome Therapy, Collaborating Docs, Accanto, Navvis, InformedDNA, The Emily Program, Icario, and Remedy Partners (acquired by Signify Health).
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests exclusively in healthcare — technology, tech-enabled services, and care delivery — leveraging what the firm calls "Uncommon Clarity" from decades of operating and advisory experience.
- Seeks positions of control or influence (growth equity), not passive minority seed checks.
- Target companies have "platform characteristics": strong management teams, competitive differentiation, solid financial fundamentals, and strong top-line growth with room for rapid expansion.
- Historical disclosed round sizes cluster in the ~$20M–$30M range, consistent with a growth-stage rather than seed strategy.
- Emphasis on value-based care, care delivery, and healthcare financing — themes Owens championed operationally at OptumHealth.
- The firm pairs capital with operational partnership, positioning itself as "a growth equity investing partner" focused on "helping companies and leadership teams unlock their full potential."
