Dean Gammell

Dean Gammell is an Irish entrepreneur based in Kinnegad, County Westmeath, and the founder and CEO of DG Ventures Limited, a private investment and venture-building firm that invests in, builds and acquires companies. His entrepreneurial streak started young: he has recounted making and selling birdhouses to neighbours at age 13, and he launched his first serious business at 23. That business, stagit.ie, was started from the corner of his bedroom in April 2010 as an advertising site and grew into one of Ireland's largest stag and hen party operators, organising events across Ireland, the UK, Europe and the US. By 2013, aged 26, the venture employed five full-time staff, had served more than 10,000 customers and was reporting an estimated €1.5m turnover, with expansion into golfing holidays and the UK market underway.

Out of the events business Gammell developed a group-booking and online-payment platform, thegroupsystem.com, aimed at the travel and leisure industry, alongside a cluster of related brands including experienceit.ie, christmasbash.ie, henit.ie and semmybusiness.com. This software-driven group-bookings business became the focus of DG Ventures Ltd and the basis for his best-known accolade: winning the "Best Established Business" category at the inaugural Ireland's Best Young Entrepreneur (IBYE) competition in 2014, with a €20,000 investment prize awarded at the national finals held at Google. Around that period he was reported to employ roughly 32 people in Kinnegad and used the prize funding to push the group-booking software into the UK. He studied Construction Management at Athlone Institute of Technology.

Today Gammell positions DG Ventures Limited around the tagline "Do More with Less," describing a firm that has founded seven brands, employs 100+ people globally and draws on more than a decade of operating experience across technology, hospitality, outsourcing and ecommerce. He has also built a personal brand around mentoring and entrepreneurship through Entrepreneur Success (entrepreneursuccess.ie), and continues to launch new ventures — including SelfBuildHelper.com (circa 2020–2021), an AI-assisted software platform to help Irish self-builders save time and money on home construction projects.
