Devendra Rane

Devendra Rane is an Indian technology entrepreneur best known as the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Coverfox Insurance, one of India's early digital insurance-distribution platforms. He graduated from IIT Bombay in 2005 with an integrated Bachelor's and Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering. Before Coverfox, he and his eventual co-founder Varun Dua worked together at Glitterbug Technologies, which built technology solutions for insurance companies — the experience that seeded their insurtech ambitions.

In 2013, Rane and Dua co-founded Coverfox (operated by Coverfox Insurance Broking Pvt. Ltd.), an online marketplace for buying and comparing motor, health, life and other insurance policies. Rane led the company's technology and engineering organization as CTO across its growth years, during which Coverfox raised capital from investors including SAIF Partners, Accel and others. When Dua later left to start Acko General Insurance in 2016, Rane also served as a board member at Acko. Rane stepped away from Coverfox around early 2020, when the company faced financial difficulties and both he and CEO Premanshu Singh departed amid uncertainty over its future.

After Coverfox, Rane turned to founding and backing early-stage ventures. He is the co-founder of Atman Care, a data-driven mental-wellness application aimed at delivering accessible support in rural and low-bandwidth settings, and he describes his focus as building digital solutions for youth. Public profiles credit him with roughly 18 years of experience building high-impact software and leading engineering teams across fintech, insurtech and consumer applications. (Note: some aggregator profiles list a "SVP Technology, Paytm" title, but that role is widely associated with former Coverfox CEO Premanshu Singh and appears to be a data conflation; treat it with caution.)
