Background
Dinesh Goel is a Partner at Siana Capital Management LLP, a Bengaluru-headquartered venture capital firm (founded 2017) that runs the Deep Science India Fund, backing start-ups built on path-breaking deep science and technology. Over roughly seven years in the start-up ecosystem, Dinesh reports having evaluated 1,000+ early-stage (Seed to Series A) opportunities across agritech, healthtech, edutech, climate/energy transition and frontier enterprise tech. He leads investments across the full lifecycle — sourcing, evaluation, deal structuring and consummation, and post-investment management as a Board Director/Observer — and describes an "active" style in which he works closely with portfolio founders and boards to navigate strategic and competitive challenges.
Before moving into venture investing, Dinesh spent almost 25 years in global management and technology consulting, living and working across New York/Boston, London, Abu Dhabi and Singapore. He was a Partner and Managing Director (Country Head, India) at ISG Inc. (formerly TPI, the Nasdaq-listed American technology advisory firm), where he advised on multi-billion-dollar complex digital transformation programs, IT strategy and IT governance. Prior to that he was a senior executive at Infosys for three years, leading a service-line P&L, and spent almost 10 years at Accenture Strategy advising clients on business process re-engineering, operational cost optimization, IT strategy and large-scale change programs.
Dinesh also teaches as a visiting faculty member on Post Graduate Programs in Entrepreneurship & Innovation — recently at FLAME University, Pune, and earlier at IFIM, Bangalore — and has been active as an angel investor and start-up advisor, including engagement with networks such as the Indian Angel Network. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Shri Ram College of Commerce (Delhi University), with additional certifications in financial and management accounting. Alongside him, Siana's leadership includes co-founders and managing partners Dr. Siddharth Pai and Dr. Archana Hingorani, with Varun Kapoor and Siddharth Shah as principals.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Deep tech / deep science first: Siana targets ventures whose edge is genuine technology and IP differentiation, aiming to reduce risk through technical defensibility rather than pure market timing.
- Stage: Dinesh personally concentrates on Seed to Series A; the firm's Deep Science India Fund follows companies onward through Series A/B and expansion stages.
- Check size: roughly $1M–$3M per company.
- Sectors: agritech/foodtech, biotech and biosciences, digital health/healthtech, edtech, climatetech and energy transition, enterprise/frontier tech, AI/ML and SaaS.
- What earns a "yes": stabilized or emerging product-market fit at a growth inflection point, strong IP/technology moat, and founders positioned to scale — Dinesh looks for companies where an active board partner can add strategic value.
- Hands-on style: in his own words, he "continues to work very closely with the portfolio founders/boards to help navigate the strategic challenges and competitive dynamics that early-stage ventures face."
