Background

Diogo Myrrha is a co-founder and General Partner at Album VC, an early-stage venture firm based in Lehi, Utah. Album traces its first fund to roughly 2013–2014 and rebranded to "Album" in 2019. Myrrha runs the firm alongside fellow partners Sid Krommenhoek and John Mayfield, with Wilson Sivertson on finance — a deliberately lean team of about five people designed so that partners, rather than support staff, work directly with portfolio companies.

Myrrha's path into venture is non-traditional. He grew up in Brazil, where he says he first developed his entrepreneurial drive as a kid, and he frames himself as an immigrant who did not take an Ivy League route. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Brigham Young University. Before venture capital, he served as Vice-President at Stoneway Capital, where he led due diligence and deal sourcing across numerous private-equity transactions.

At Album, Myrrha has helped build a firm with an outsized track record for its size: Album reports having backed all seven of Utah's billion-dollar software "unicorns" to emerge during its run, and as of late 2025 the portfolio spanned roughly 80+ companies, including 7 unicorns, 2 IPOs, and 15+ acquisitions. The firm operates on a "quality over quantity" cadence — famously about two to three deals per partner per year out of hundreds of meetings.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Stage & checks: Concentrates on the seed round, writing checks in the ~$300K–$2.0M range (sweet spot ~$750K), then supporting companies into later rounds.
  • Sectors: SaaS and SMB software, FinTech, future of work / HR tech, EdTech, and marketplaces/consumer internet.
  • Founder-first conviction: Prioritizes founders who are genuinely passionate about the underlying problem — "Founders that are passionate about the problem they are solving show more grit to stick to the company" through hard times. He looks for what he calls "the crazy in their eyes."
  • Market selection matters: Favors expanding or nascent markets — "rising tides that lift all boats" — where momentum compounds for a good company.
  • Hands-on partnership: Album intentionally stays small so partners are "the first call when crap hits the fan," rather than delegating to associates.
  • Deliberate pace: "We've made the very deliberate decision of quality over quantity," investing in only ~2 startups per partner per year.
