Background

Dion DeLoof is a Silicon Valley technology investor and operator who has worked in business and technology since 1996. He began his career at staffing and services giant Allegis Group (1996–2002), where he served as Director of Business Operations and Director of European Operations and helped drive organic revenue growth across EMEA and the U.S. In 2002 he co-founded Anteo Group and led it as CEO until it was acquired and integrated into The CSI Companies, a business unit of Tokyo-based Recruit Holdings Co. Ltd. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Hope College.

DeLoof has a recurring pattern of taking companies from bootstrap to funded to acquired. In 2014 he was Co-Founder and Chief Revenue Officer of Kredible, a SaaS startup serving wealth advisors that raised two rounds of funding before being acquired by WisdomTree Asset Management. From 2015 to 2018 he was President of Business Services at Validant, a life-sciences regulatory consultancy that was acquired by GHO Capital in 2018.

In 2017 he co-founded Alpha Impact 8 Ventures (AI8 Ventures), a San Francisco-based, minority-owned venture firm where he serves as Managing Partner. The firm operates as the strategic VC platform within 8alpha.ai. Alongside his fund role, DeLoof has held board and advisor seats including Investor/Board Member of X0PA AI, Investor/Board Observer at SnapNurse and PAYMINT, Investor/Board Member of RoverMed BioSciences (2017), and Strategic Advisor of USDM Life Sciences (2021).

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Describes the firm as "anti-venture capital" — pursuing venture-scale returns with a private-equity risk discipline, focused on "transforming cash-generating businesses into scalable, AI-powered companies."
  • Invests across three defined verticals: AI credit infrastructure, AI applications, and AI resilience technology.
  • Leads seed-stage rounds with roughly $1M–$5M initial checks, also participating at Series A, with a stated ~3-to-5-year investment horizon.
  • Geographic mandate spans North and South America (U.S. and Latin America), with operating presence across San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, Mexico City, and Guadalajara.
  • Prioritizes women- and minority-led founders with operating experience and science-/data-driven approaches; emphasizes themes of wealth creation and "leveling the playing field."
