Background
Dror Levy was a senior finance executive at DSP Group, Inc., a San Jose-headquartered semiconductor company that provided wireless chipset solutions combining semiconductors, software, and reference designs. DSP Group’s business included Home, Unified Communications, and SmartVoice segments, with products spanning cordless telephony, home gateways, VoIP office products, mobile headsets, wearables, IoT devices, and voice/audio processing.
Levy joined DSP Group in August 2002 as Corporate Controller. He was promoted to Vice President of Finance in January 2006 and became Chief Financial Officer and Secretary in July 2006. In that role, he served as DSP Group’s principal finance executive through the company’s public-company reporting period and signed the company’s 2020 Form 10-K as Chief Financial Officer and Secretary.
Before DSP Group, Levy worked at Kost Forer Gabbay & Kasierer, a member of Ernst & Young Global, where he served as an account manager in the high-tech practice. He is a certified public accountant and holds an MBA from Tel Aviv University and a BA in Business and Accounting from the Israeli College of Management.
On August 30, 2021, DSP Group agreed to be acquired by Synaptics Incorporated for $22.00 per share in cash. The acquisition closed on December 2, 2021; immediately before the effective time, DSP Group terminated Ofer Elyakim, Dror Levy, and Tali Chen as company officers.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- I found no verified public investment thesis, check size, portfolio page, or personal investing site for Dror Levy.
- Any founder approach should be based on his verified operating background rather than an assumed venture mandate: public-company finance, semiconductor operations, M&A, investor relations, accounting controls, and hardware/software commercialization.
- His most relevant domain expertise appears to be companies selling semiconductors and embedded software into communications, smart-home, IoT, wearable, voice/audio, and connected-device markets.
- Because his public background is CFO/operator-heavy, not fund-manager-heavy, the strongest fit would likely be founders looking for finance, go-to-market, public-company readiness, acquisition, or strategic-partnership guidance in hardware and communications technology.
Notable Investments
- No verified public angel investments or portfolio companies were found in the sources reviewed.
