Edmund Gaffney

Edmund J. Gaffney is the founder of Roundwood Capital, LLC, a private equity firm he established in 2013 that partners with executives and business owners on direct investment opportunities and collaborates with family offices and other long-term investors. Before founding Roundwood, Gaffney was a Partner at Jacobson Partners, a New York–based private equity firm, from 2001 through 2012, where he was responsible for deal sourcing, execution, and portfolio oversight. Earlier in his career he co-founded Vercera, an online commercial receivables marketplace, and managed acquisition activity for AmeriGas Propane, the largest propane distributor in the U.S.

During his tenure at Jacobson Partners, Gaffney was involved with portfolio companies including Bertucci's Restaurants (Italian casual dining), Taco Bueno Restaurants (Mexican QSR), Learning Care Group (a publicly-traded childcare operator), FormTech Industries (automotive parts), and Tug Technologies (airline ground-support equipment) — reflecting a generalist, operations-focused deal background.

Through Roundwood, Gaffney takes active ownership roles in his portfolio companies. He is a co-owner and serves as Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Abbott Furnace Company, an industrial thermal-processing equipment manufacturer, and Roundwood's portfolio also includes The Rose Corporation, Mark Metals, and Trident Actuator.

Gaffney is a graduate of Georgetown University. He has been active in education-focused civic roles, serving on the Leadership Council of The Haverford School, as a former trustee of New Vision Charter High Schools, and as former Chairman of the Family Life Academy Charter School (2007–2012). He resides in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania with his wife and two children.
