Background

Edward Chau is Vice President, Finance at TorQuest Partners, a Toronto-based private equity firm founded in 2002. TorQuest’s site says he joined the firm in January 2013 and has more than ten years of experience in financial and tax reporting for private equity funds.

Before joining TorQuest, Chau was Controller at EdgeStone Capital Partners, another Canadian private equity platform. His public TorQuest biography positions him as part of the firm’s finance function rather than as a deal-originating investment partner.

Chau is a Certified General Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. His LinkedIn profile lists TorQuest Partners as his employer and Markham, Ontario as his location.

TorQuest itself manages more than C$5 billion of equity capital and is investing from Fund VI, a C$2.27 billion fund that closed in December 2023. The firm focuses on middle-market private equity, not seed-stage angel investing; the “Angel Investors / Seed Round” stub classification appears unsupported by the sources reviewed.
