Background

Edward S. Pantzer founded the predecessor to Pantzer Properties, Inc. in 1971 as a vehicle for private investment in undervalued real estate. Over a career spanning more than 40 years, he built the firm into a fully integrated owner/operator of multifamily assets along the U.S. East Coast, headquartered in New York City with operations in Rochelle Park, New Jersey. Across his tenure he acquired and managed well over 15,000 apartment units (later firm materials cite more than 25,000) plus roughly 2 million square feet of retail and office property, and the firm has been involved in more than $4 billion of real estate transactions inclusive of acquisitions, dispositions and refinancings.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Boston University and attended Brooklyn Law School. The firm invests through a fully discretionary private-equity fund series known as the Panco / Pantzer Strategic Real Estate Funds, with property management handled by its wholly owned subsidiary, Pantzer Property Management (Panco Management Corp).

Per the firm's current leadership page, Edward Pantzer is now listed as retired and is involved with numerous charitable and philanthropic endeavors. Day-to-day leadership has passed to his sons, Jason M. Pantzer and Jordan M. Pantzer, who serve as Co-CEOs and Co-General Partners of the Panco Strategic Real Estate Funds. Jason previously worked at Ackman-Ziff, ING and Lehman Brothers; Jordan previously worked at Starwood Capital Group, Lazard, Credit Suisse and Merrill Lynch.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests in multifamily (apartment) real estate, not technology startups — the "angel/seed" label in the source stub is not supported by any verifiable record.
  • Strategy: acquire, reposition and operate value-add and core-plus apartment communities along the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic corridor, originally rooted in a "private investment in undervalued real estate" thesis.
  • Deal types associated with the firm include acquisition, development, ground lease, loan purchase, Opportunity Zone, partner buyout, pre-development, recapitalization, refinance and rehabilitation.
  • Capital is deployed through fully discretionary private-equity funds (the Panco / Pantzer Strategic Real Estate Funds) rather than one-off angel checks.

Notable Investments

  • Pantzer / Panco Strategic Real Estate Fund V — closed September 30, 2022 with $781 million in capital commitments, the firm's flagship discretionary multifamily fund vehicle.
  • Portfolio (aggregate): more than 15,000–25,000 apartment units and ~2 million sq ft of retail/office acquired over the firm's history; cumulative activity exceeding $4 billion in real estate transactions across acquisitions, dispositions and refinancings.
  • *(No verifiable startup/venture portfolio companies exist for this individual; the firm's "portfolio" consists of multifamily real-estate assets, which are not publicly enumerated per-property.)*
