Background
Eli Blatt is a Partner at Fortissimo Capital, an Israeli private equity firm, and has been with the firm since its inception in 2004. Fortissimo is one of Israel's leading PE funds, having raised more than $2.7 billion across six funds and invested in over 60 platform companies (plus ~45 add-on acquisitions) in technology and industrial sectors. Blatt's role centers on finance, operations, and post-investment value creation, and he sits on the boards of numerous portfolio companies.
Before joining Fortissimo, Blatt built a career in senior finance and operations roles at technology companies. He was CFO and Vice President of Finance & Operations at Noosh, Inc., and earlier served as Director of Operations at Check Point Software Technologies (Nasdaq: CHKP). Prior to Check Point, he was Operations Controller at Madge Networks (later sold to Avaya) and held senior finance and operations positions at Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC) and at Israel Chemicals.
Blatt holds an MBA from Indiana University and a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Tel Aviv University. His operating background — controllership, FP&A, and operations at both multinationals and high-growth tech firms — aligns with Fortissimo's hands-on, operationally intensive style of ownership.
As a partner, Blatt is active on portfolio-company boards, including as Chairman of Sugat Group (since 2019), and as a director at companies such as Priority Software, Tritone Technologies, 4RF, and others across Fortissimo's holdings.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests through Fortissimo Capital, a private equity fund focused on buyouts (~70%) and special-situation / growth capital (~30%) — later-stage and mature companies, not early-stage or seed.
- Looks for companies with "substantial revenues (ideally with a solid recurring revenue model), cash-generating performance … pivotal phases, and an inflection point for a new organic growth trajectory."
- Targets businesses that can achieve at least ~3x performance enhancement over the coming years, with competitive differentiation and barriers to entry.
- Prefers significant ownership stakes and cash-flow-positive companies (or expected to be within ~18 months).
- Invests across both technology and industrial sectors, and across private companies, public companies needing scaling capital, corporate spin-offs, and mature companies with divesting shareholders.
- Provides heavy post-investment operational support: executive/C-suite recruiting, active board engagement, M&A strategy, and in-house consulting on operations, marketing, procurement, and HR.
Notable Investments
- Stratasys (Nasdaq: SSYS) — $120M strategic equity investment (closed 2025), acquiring ~14% of the 3D-printing pioneer via newly issued shares at $10.30/share.
- Priority Software — Israeli ERP/cloud business software company; Fortissimo acquired it, later sold 50% at a ~$250M valuation, brought in TA Associates, and subsequently Blackstone Growth took a majority stake (2020).
- Sugat Group — Israeli food manufacturer acquired in 2019; expanded via add-on acquisitions (cooking oils, poppy seeds, coffee, tahini). Blatt serves as Chairman.
- Tritone Technologies — metal/ceramic additive-manufacturing solutions provider; Fortissimo is an existing investor (later joined by Stratasys). Blatt is a director.
- 4RF — Wellington (NZ) microwave/point-to-point radio maker; assets acquired by Fortissimo (~$8M, 2012) and later sold to Aviat Networks.
- Kornit Digital — digital textile printing company noted among Fortissimo's earlier tech holdings.
- Additional directorships attributed to Blatt include roles at companies such as Priority Software, Tritone, 4RF, and Gadot Biochemical Industries.
