Elmarie Beer

Ms Elmarie de Beer is the Executive Director: Finance and Facilities at North-West University, a role reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor and sitting on the University Management Committee. In this capacity she is responsible for the University's overarching financial and infrastructural affairs — developing financial policy, instituting control measures, and making sound investment decisions with University funds to assure continued financial stability, operating efficiency and the growth of the institution's assets.

She is a Chartered Accountant (SA), qualifying in 2002. Her academic record is entirely from the University of South Africa (UNISA): a Baccalaureus Computationis (1999), an Honneurs-Baccalaureus Computationis (2000), and a Post Graduate Diploma in Auditing (2001), before completing her CA(SA) articles/board qualification in 2002.

Within NWU's multi-campus environment she progressed from Chief Director: Finance to Acting Executive Director, and then to her current Executive Director: Finance and Facilities role, which she has held on the senior management / University Management Committee (appearing in NWU's Integrated Annual Reports for 2020, 2021 and 2022). NWU's own communications have profiled her as "the captain that steers" the University's finances. Her office is supported by Executive Personal Assistant Amelia Fourie (+27 18 299 4922).
