Eoghan Mccabe

Eoghan McCabe is an Irish entrepreneur and angel investor best known as the co-founder, CEO and chairman of Fin, the company formerly known as Intercom. Fin’s author profile says he previously founded Contrast, a software design consultancy, and Exceptional, a developer toolkit acquired by Rackspace in 2011.

McCabe studied computer science at Trinity College Dublin from 2002 to 2006. In his own bio, he describes building websites for Irish businesses while in college, then starting Eoghan McCabe Limited after graduation, which later became Contrast. He co-founded Intercom in 2011 with Des Traynor, Ciaran Lee and David Barrett after selling Exceptional.

He led Intercom as CEO until July 2020, when he moved into the chairman role and Karen Peacock became CEO. In October 2022, Intercom announced that McCabe was returning as CEO. In May 2026, he announced that Intercom the company was being renamed Fin, while Intercom would remain the customer-service software platform name.

In June 2026, McCabe announced that Salesforce had signed a definitive agreement to acquire Fin for approximately $3.6 billion, with closing expected in the fourth quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal year 2027. He said he would remain CEO and Des Traynor would continue to run R&D after the transaction closes.
