Eric Bergeson

Eric Scott Bergeson (born January 1, 1966, in Salt Lake City) served as President of Wasatch Global Investors, a 100% employee-owned investment manager founded in 1975 and headquartered in Salt Lake City with roughly $26.7 billion in assets under management (as of August 31, 2025). He joined Wasatch in 1998 and was named President in 2016, a role he held until concluding a 27-year career at the firm. Under a long-term succession plan announced December 3, 2024, Bergeson remained President throughout 2025, retired on December 31, 2025, and continues to serve on the firm's Board of Directors (through at least the end of 2026); his presidential duties were absorbed by the Board upon his retirement.

Before Wasatch, Bergeson was director of operations for GSS/Array Technology, an electronics manufacturer headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand, and earlier worked as an associate with J.P. Morgan Securities in New York. He earned an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA in Political Science from Brigham Young University, where he played college football for the BYU Cougars as an All-WAC defensive back.

Bergeson had a professional athletic career before finance: from 1990 to 1993 he played in the National Football League as a free safety, with stints on the Atlanta Falcons, Houston Oilers, and New England Patriots. Outside of work he is described as enjoying fly fishing, surfing, golf, and hiking in Utah.

It is worth emphasizing that Bergeson's role at Wasatch was as a firm executive and leader of a traditional long-only asset management business — not as a portfolio manager placing individual bets or as an angel investor writing checks into startups. Wasatch's investing is done by dedicated portfolio-manager teams investing shareholder capital in publicly traded equities through registered mutual funds and separate accounts.
