Background
Eric Harber is a Seattle-area technology executive and serial operator with more than 25 years of experience building, scaling, and selling software companies. He holds a BS in Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA (General Management, Marketing, and Finance) from Duke University. He describes himself as a "serial business builder" with a passion for customers and for scaling high-growth technology companies, and his operating career spans product, sales, marketing, and customer success leadership.
Earlier in his career, Harber served as VP of Corporate & Business Development at Qpass, where he helped lead the company's sale to Amdocs, and later as President and COO of Hipcricket, which he helped take public and eventually sell. He subsequently ran global product and marketing for Amazon's Local Commerce group before becoming Chief Executive Officer of Flowroute, a Seattle-based cloud communications (CPaaS/SaaS) company where he led transformational growth. Across these roles he is credited with multiple exits — acquisitions cited in the roughly $300 million and $70 million range and investor returns reported at greater than 12x and 20x.
After Flowroute, Harber served as an Operating Partner at Diversis Capital, a software-focused private equity firm, where he advised CEOs, founders, and boards. On July 27, 2023, KUKUI — a CRM and marketing/software platform for the automotive aftermarket — appointed him Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Lorie Sharp. Aggregator records also associate him with VoloSpark as founder/president, reflecting his ongoing entrepreneurial activity.
Alongside his operating roles, Harber invests personally and advises early-stage startups, bringing hands-on SaaS scaling experience to the founders he backs.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests personally as an angel, primarily at the seed stage, in technology startups he can help scale.
- Focus areas track his operating background: B2B SaaS/enterprise software, conversational and applied AI, and developer/communications APIs (CPaaS).
- Tends to combine capital with an advisory/operating role, rather than passive checks — he has served as an advisor to the companies he backs (e.g., Symbl.ai and ModusBox).
- Values founders building high-growth, customer-obsessed technology businesses — consistent with his self-described identity as a "serial business builder … passion for customers and scaling high-growth technology companies."
- No public thesis document, standardized check size, or formal fund; investing appears selective and network-driven.
Notable Investments
- Symbl.ai — Conversational-intelligence / AI developer platform for analyzing voice and text conversations; Harber participated in a seed round (Sept 9, 2019) and served as an advisor.
- ModusBox — Financial-technology / integration and open-source payments software company; Harber served as an advisor.
