Background

Eric Miller is a St. Louis–based bioscience investor and operator with a scientific foundation in biochemistry. He earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Washington University in St. Louis (2001–2006) and holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Early in his career he worked as a consultant at Kantar Health, advising pharmaceutical and life-sciences clients.

Miller served as a Senior (Investment) Analyst at BioGenerator, the early-stage investment and company-creation engine of BioSTL, one of the most active life-sciences seed investors in the St. Louis region. In that role he conducted due diligence and supported investment activity for new and existing portfolio companies, focused on business development across BioGenerator's therapeutics, diagnostics, medical-device, and agtech portfolio.

Beyond the investment seat, Miller has been an operator inside the companies he helped build. He served as Chief Operating Officer of Cadre Bioscience, LLC — a St. Louis therapeutics-acceleration company housed in BioGenerator Labs that in-licenses and advances early-stage assets from top-tier universities. Since 2018 he has run Teric Group, LLC as Principal, a life-sciences advisory practice.

Currently, Miller is a Managing Director at Mirada Life Sciences (having joined as a Senior Engagement Manager in 2021 and moved into a Director role in 2023), a consultancy that provides scientific and medical-affairs support to the pharmaceutical industry. His combination of a bench-science Ph.D., venture due-diligence experience, and hands-on startup operating roles is characteristic of the BioGenerator model, which pairs capital with company-building expertise.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests at the seed / earliest stage in life-sciences and agtech startups, typically the first institutional capital into a company.
  • Sector focus spans BioGenerator's core areas: therapeutics, diagnostics and research tools, medical devices, digital health, and plant science / agriculture technology.
  • Geographically concentrated on St. Louis and the surrounding Midwest bioscience ecosystem — BioGenerator's explicit mission is to build and retain bioscience companies in the St. Louis region and attract outside follow-on capital.
  • Emphasis on rigorous scientific and commercial due diligence — Miller's own work centered on evaluating technologies (often university spinouts) and supporting business development, reflecting a preference for defensible science with a credible path to the clinic or market.
  • Comfortable with company creation and hands-on building, not just passive checks — consistent with BioGenerator's model of embedding operators (including Miller's own COO role at Cadre Bioscience) alongside its investments.

Notable Investments

  • Geneoscopy — RNA-based stool test for colorectal cancer screening (FDA-cleared diagnostic; notable BioGenerator success story).
  • Benson Hill — soybean genetics / food-tech company that later went public.
  • Galera Therapeutics — oncology (radiotherapy side-effect) therapeutics; IPO in 2019.
  • Cofactor Genomics — RNA-based diagnostics for matching cancer patients to immunotherapy.
  • Cadre Bioscience — therapeutics-acceleration company where Miller served as COO, in-licensing and advancing early-stage drug assets.
  • Confluence Discovery Technologies, Euclises, Kalocyte, Omniose, and dozens more across therapeutics, diagnostics, and agtech.
