Background
Eugène Eisenberger is the founder and President of 3E (Eugène Eisenberger Entreprises), a Paris-based corporate-finance and M&A advisory firm he started in 1985 and has led ever since. The firm advises on exclusive sell-side and buy-side mandates — full or partial divestitures, mergers, acquisitions, and financial operations — for French and foreign industrial and financial parties, acting as orchestrator across every stage of a transaction. Alongside advisory work, 3E manages a proprietary investment book, deploying its own treasury mainly into listed large-, mid- and small-cap equities.
His training is engineering- and management-heavy: an ESE engineering degree from SUPÉLEC (Malakoff, 1970) in electrical engineering and information systems, a Master of Management Sciences from Harvard (Cambridge, USA, 1971), and a business diploma in finance and management from ICG Paris (1979). He began his career as a professor and consultant in management information systems and financial mathematics at the University of Ottawa's Graduate Business School of Management (1971–1973).
He then spent the 1970s and early 1980s in industry: at Xerox in Malakoff, France (1973–1979) as a computer-engineering specialist, marketing/planning manager and salesman/sales manager; and at Radiall (1979–1985), the European leader in coaxial connectors, where he served as worldwide Sales and Marketing Vice President and set up the company's American branch. That operating background — electronics, IT and international sales — maps directly onto the sectors 3E later specialized in.
Since 1995 Eisenberger has also been a jury and lecturer member of HEC Entrepreneurs, the entrepreneurship program at HEC Paris, keeping him connected to founders and the French startup/SME ecosystem.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Operates primarily as a trusted M&A advisor to owner-managers and mid-market companies rather than as a pure financial sponsor — taking exclusive mandates and shepherding deals end to end.
- Strong sector affinity for IT, IT services, software, electronics, consulting/training and media, reflecting his Xerox/Radiall operating roots; also active in industry and business/consumer services.
- Runs a proprietary investment portfolio for 3E's own account, concentrated in listed equities across large, mid and small caps.
- Tends to back/advise founder-led, mid-sized businesses — the profile of companies he repeatedly buys, sells and merges (e.g. consulting firms, electronics manufacturers, training providers).
- His decades inside HEC Entrepreneurs suggest receptivity to entrepreneurs with a clear path to a strategic transaction or consolidation play.
