Background

Fabian Wasmus is a Partner at Vitruvian Partners, an international growth-equity and private-equity firm. He joined Vitruvian in 2017 and works out of the firm's footprint covering Continental Europe, focusing on the business services and life sciences & healthcare sectors as well as investments across the DACH, CEE and Iberia regions. He is based in Munich. Across his career he has built roughly two decades of experience in mid-market private equity and growth investing across Europe.

Before Vitruvian, Wasmus was a Partner at EQT, where he focused on TMT/digital, consumer- and business-services, and healthcare-related investments in the DACH and Nordics regions. Earlier in his career he worked at MCap Finance, investing in German mid-cap companies, and before that in the corporate finance team at KPMG. He has also co-founded an internet start-up, giving him an operator's perspective alongside his investing background.

Wasmus holds an MSc in Business Administration from the University of Cologne and an MBA through the CEMS program. He is an active conference speaker in the European private-equity community, including appearances at the 0100 Conference CEE / 0100 DACH (Vienna) and the NOAH Conference (Zurich), where he has participated in panels on operational value creation and growth investing.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests primarily in growth-stage and mid-market European companies, not classic early-stage seed — Vitruvian deploys growth capital, growth buyouts and mid-market buyouts.
  • Core sectors: technology and internet, business & consumer services, and life sciences & healthcare.
  • Geographic focus on the DACH, CEE and Iberia regions of Europe.
  • Looks for established, fast-growing businesses with real momentum — on the ClimatePartner deal he described it as "a long established, exceptionally fast growing business that is making a real contribution to tackling climate change."
  • Personally interested in entrepreneurial challenges, business-angel opportunities and board roles, reflecting his own start-up co-founding experience.

Notable Investments

  • ClimatePartner — Munich-based corporate climate-action / carbon-offset platform; received growth-equity financing from Vitruvian Partners, with Wasmus speaking publicly for the firm on the deal.
  • Redarbor — Barcelona-based operator of Latin America's leading job-classifieds websites and applicant/HR software solutions.
  • Fotona — manufacturer of medical and aesthetic laser systems (life sciences/healthcare).
  • K12 Techno Services — education-technology services business.
