Background
Felix Fein is a Vienna-based operator and former early-stage venture investor. He built an investing career at Speedinvest, the pan-European early-stage VC fund (€400M+ AUM, offices in Berlin, London, Munich, Paris, Vienna and San Francisco), where he progressed through Visiting Analyst, Analyst, Associate and Senior Associate roles on the firm's Health / Digital Health team. In that capacity he worked on and co-authored deal announcements for the firm's healthcare portfolio, backing roughly a dozen startups with a digital-health focus and taking board-level involvement.
Before Speedinvest, Fein gained cross-functional experience across consulting and venture: Strategy Consulting at Strategy& (part of the PwC network), Venture Development at Project A Ventures, and Corporate Development / M&A at i5invest. He describes himself as a "tech entrepreneur turned venture capitalist and early-stage investor" with a background in business and law and interests in economics and politics.
Educationally, Fein holds a Master's in Strategy, Innovation and Management Control from WU Vienna (Vienna University of Economics and Business), 2017–2019, with additional studies at the University of Chicago (Booth School of Business) and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).
Since leaving the investing side of Speedinvest, Fein has moved into operating roles — serving as Commercial Lead / VP Commercial Operations at the Austrian digital-health venture haelsi (20x.health) from around summer 2022, and more recently as Value Creation Officer at fiskaly, a Vienna-based fiscalization/compliance software company.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests at pre-seed and seed (occasionally following into Series A) within digital health and health tech in Europe.
- Focus areas visible from his deals: remote patient monitoring / "virtual wards," clinical practice management, and health IT that reduces administrative burden on clinicians.
- Aligned with Speedinvest Health's stated approach of backing founders building "next-generation, end-to-end" healthcare products with strong patient/client satisfaction and compliance metrics.
- His broader stated interest is in "bringing healthcare in Europe into the 21st century" — a bias toward software that modernizes legacy clinical and administrative workflows.
Notable Investments
- Doccla — UK health-tech building a "virtual wards" platform to remotely monitor patients on hospital wards and at home. Speedinvest co-led a $3.3M seed round (Sept 2021) alongside Giant Ventures; Fein was credited alongside colleague Andrea Zitna for backing the founders. Doccla later raised a Series A (~£15M).
- Doctorly — Berlin-based digital-health company building a cloud practice-management suite to cut doctors' administrative time. Speedinvest led its $5.6M seed round; Fein co-authored Speedinvest's investment announcement for the deal.
