Background

Folco Goggioli is an Italian investment professional currently serving as Portfolio Manager at Clessidra Capital Credit SGR S.p.A., which he joined in December 2023. Clessidra Capital Credit is the private-credit arm of the Clessidra Group; it absorbed Value Italy SGR, Goggioli's prior employer, following a May 2023 acquisition of that firm.

For much of his career Goggioli worked at Value Italy SGR S.p.A., a Florence-based independent manager founded in 2001 that invests in unlisted Italian small- and mid-sized companies across manufacturing, commercial and service sectors. There he managed investments on behalf of the firm's private equity funds and, from 2019, coordinated the launch and management of its credit funds. In connection with the private equity funds, he sat on the boards of directors of several portfolio companies — the "Investment Manager & Board Member" role reflected in the stub data.

Before entering investment management, Goggioli spent three years at A. Menarini Industrie Farmaceutiche Riunite S.r.l. (the Florence-headquartered pharmaceutical group), where he worked on the group's consolidated financial statements.

Academically, he holds a degree in Economics and Commerce, awarded with honors, from the University of Florence, and a Master's in Corporate Finance from SDA Bocconi School of Management (Bocconi University's business school) in Milan.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests through institutional closed-end private capital funds (private equity and, more recently, private credit) rather than as a personal angel — the "Angel Investor / Seed Round" tag in the source stub is not supported by the primary sources found.
  • Target: unlisted Italian SMEs in the small- and mid-market with strong growth and value-creation potential, competitive market positioning, and export/internationalization upside.
  • Sectors span manufacturing, commercial and business services, outsourcing/BPO, financial software, logistics and security services, food and consumer goods, healthcare, media, automotive, energy/utilities and industrials.
  • Value-creation approach: active, medium-to-long-term ownership (roughly 3–5 year horizon) with board-level involvement in portfolio companies and internationalization as a core exit lever.
  • Check size at Value Italy has been reported in the ~€1–5M range per deal (aggregator data; treat as indicative).

Notable Investments

  • Rekeep (formerly Manutencoop Facility Management) — Italian integrated facility-management group.
  • TAS Eastern Europe — Eastern-European unit of TAS Group, active in banking/financial software and payments.
  • BassilichiCEE — payments and business-process-outsourcing operator in Central & Eastern Europe.
