Fred Goldwater

Fred Goldwater has been a Venture Partner at Hatteras Venture Partners since August 2011. He brings more than 40 years of executive-management experience spanning manufacturing, financial services, and healthcare, with a deep background in business development (mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and large-scale project implementation), operations, information systems, sales, marketing, and product development. In his role at Hatteras, he provides strategic advisory services and executive support to companies serving the healthcare market.

His operating career includes a long tenure at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, where he held senior roles including SVP of Strategic Development, CIO, and SVP of Operations (with responsibility for self-insured, government, and senior-market segments) before retiring at the end of 2007. He later served as CEO of RealMed, a revenue-cycle-management company, overseeing its sale to Availity. Subsequent operating roles included COO of Community Care of North Carolina Services (Medicaid population-health management), COO of AlignCare Services (an Rx-data analytics company, Dec 2016–Apr 2019), and CEO / Executive Chairman of Gobiquity, Inc. (parent of the GoCheck Kids pediatric vision-screening platform). Earlier in his career he held executive roles at Providian/Capital Holding and WestRock.

Beyond his Hatteras and operating roles, Fred has provided consulting and advisory support to organizations including the NC Health Information Exchange, FastMed, LipoScience, Cain Brothers, American Well, Medfusion, and Technosoft, and he has served as an advisor to Excelerate Health Ventures. He has served on the boards of 410 Medical and the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle.

Fred earned his undergraduate degree from Babson College and an MBA from Pace University.
