Background
Fredrik Ruben (born 1977) is a Swedish technology executive who has spent his career running and scaling software companies, alongside selective angel investing. He holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management from Linköping University in Sweden, completed partly at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. His early career included roles at Nordea and several years at Ericsson (roughly 2003–2008).
He then moved into leadership of listed Swedish tech businesses: Vice President at gaming-technology company Boss Media AB and Head of Government Markets, New Media & Sports Betting at GTECH (2008–2009); President & CEO of 3L System Group (2009–2012); and CEO of Vitec Mäklarsystem / Vitec Mäklare (2012–2014). Since 2014 he has been Chief Executive Officer of Dynavox Group — the assistive-technology business behind Tobii Dynavox, the global leader in eye-tracking and touch-based augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices for people with disabilities.
In parallel with his executive career, Ruben is listed as an Advisor and Investor at Tipser, the Stockholm-based embedded-commerce company (founded 2012) that lets shoppers buy products natively on publisher pages, media sites and other digital surfaces without redirection. Tipser was acquired by U.S. checkout company Bolt on 29 November 2021 in an all-stock deal valued at just under $200 million, with Tipser's Stockholm operation becoming Bolt's European headquarters. His tipser.com email reflects this advisory/angel relationship rather than a full-time operating role.
Most recently, on 21 April 2026 Ruben was elected a Director of Lime Technologies AB, a publicly listed Swedish CRM software company — extending his footprint as a board member and advisor within the Nordic software ecosystem.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests and advises as an operator-angel — a sitting tech CEO who backs early-stage companies and contributes hands-on operating and go-to-market experience rather than running a formal fund.
- Stage: Seed / early-stage, where an experienced executive's advice has outsized leverage.
- Sectors: Software-led businesses he understands deeply — embedded/e-commerce technology (Tipser), B2B and productivity software, and broader Nordic SaaS.
- What makes him say yes: evidence of strong product technology that can scale across many channels/customers (the Tipser model of "commerce on any surface" is illustrative) plus founding teams that can execute. Note: he does not publish a formal investment thesis, so specifics on check size and criteria are not publicly documented.
Notable Investments
- Tipser — Stockholm embedded-commerce platform (founded 2012) where Ruben is listed as advisor and angel investor; acquired by Bolt in November 2021 in an all-stock deal valued near $200 million, a successful exit for the cap table.
