Georgina Stevens

Georgina Stevens is a sustainability writer, advisor, campaigner, journalist and broadcaster, and the founder and lead advisor of One Pumpkin, a sustainability incubator and advisory. By her own accounts she has worked across the sustainability sector for more than 20–25 years, spanning environmental consultancies, social and environmental NGOs, and private and public companies — including stints associated with Virgin and M&S — advising on and implementing sustainability strategies. One Pumpkin takes its name from a 2006 moment when Stevens watched a Caribbean hotel receptionist buy a single pumpkin from a local farmer — a small act that, for her, symbolised "how simple sustainability could and should be," especially when sourced locally rather than imported. The advisory operates with a network of specialist collaborators in areas such as energy, water and waste engineering and sustainability communications. Through One Pumpkin she also published commentary and journalism (e.g. on COP21, zero-waste living, the electric-car market, and sustainability in media) and ran the "Be The Change" events designed to inspire action on climate and the environment.
