Firm
Francisco Partners (former); Piucco Holding GmbH / JEHEER Holding GmbH (current personal vehicles)

Technology-focused private equity (Francisco Partners, TPG). Note: his current activity through personal holding companies in Vienna is consistent with private/angel-style investing, but I could not independently verify active seed/angel dealmaking.

At Francisco Partners/TPG: large-cap buyouts, take-privates, and growth equity in technology — *not* seed-stage. The "Angel / Seed Round" label in the stub is not supported for his institutional career.

Europe, with emphasis on the German-speaking region (DACH) and the UK
Location
Vienna, Austria (previously London, UK)

Background

Gianluca Piucco (born April 1989, per UK Companies House filings) is a private-equity and finance professional with a career spanning Goldman Sachs, TPG, and Francisco Partners. He began his career in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs (roughly 2013–2016), covering clients in the German-speaking region out of Frankfurt. He then joined TPG as an investment professional (registered as a member of TPG Europe LLP from May 2016 to February 2019), where he focused on private-equity investments in the software and supply-chain technology space.

In March 2019 he moved to Francisco Partners — the ~$45bn, technology-exclusive private-equity firm founded in 1999 (San Francisco, with London and New York offices) — where he served as a Vice President at the firm's London entity (Francisco Partners UK Ltd.) until around November 2020. Francisco Partners invests exclusively in technology and technology-enabled businesses via divisional buyouts, take-privates, growth equity, and recapitalizations, typically taking majority/control stakes. Piucco no longer appears on the firm's current team page, indicating he has since moved on.

More recently, Piucco has been operating as a private investor through personal holding vehicles based in Vienna, Austria. He founded Piucco Holding GmbH (Firmenbuch 622860x, registered 29 February 2024; seat at Lugeck 7/51, 1010 Wien), whose stated purpose is the "acquisition, holding and management of investments." His LinkedIn also associates him with JEHEER Holding GmbH in Vienna. He stepped down as managing director of Piucco Holding GmbH by July 2025 (Elfriede Trimmel is now listed as managing director).

Educationally, Piucco holds an MSc in Management and Strategy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE, 2011–2012), preceded by an earlier undergraduate degree (2008–2010; he is listed with the "BSc" postnominal in Austrian corporate filings). His profile notes merit-based scholarships (2009–2012) and a GMAT score in the 97th percentile. He is a native German speaker with full professional English.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Technology and software specialist. Across TPG and Francisco Partners, his work centered on software and technology businesses; at TPG he specifically focused on software and supply-chain technology.
  • Control-oriented private equity, not seed. His institutional experience is in later-stage, control-oriented deals — buyouts, take-privates, growth equity, and recapitalizations — the Francisco Partners playbook. This is materially different from angel/seed investing.
  • DACH and UK orientation. His Goldman Sachs (German-speaking coverage, Frankfurt), LSE/London, and now Vienna base point to a Central-European and UK focus.
  • Current activity via personal holding companies. Through Piucco Holding GmbH he acquires and manages equity stakes directly, suggesting a shift toward private, personally-directed investing after his institutional PE career.
  • *Note:* I could not find a publicly stated, first-person investment thesis from Piucco; the above is inferred from verifiable role and sector history.

Notable Investments

  • Smokeless Ocean13 GmbH — an active shareholding held by his Piucco Holding GmbH (Austria).
  • Winkler Trade & Commerce GmbH — an active shareholding held by his Piucco Holding GmbH (Austria).
  • TPG (software & supply-chain technology deals, 2016–2019) — worked as an investment professional on the firm's European software/supply-chain PE investments (specific attributed deals not public).
  • Francisco Partners (technology buyouts/growth, 2019–2020) — worked as a VP in the firm's London office; specific named deals he led are not disclosed publicly. (FP's portfolio in that era included companies such as LogMeIn, Forcepoint, Sumo Logic, and MyHeritage, but these should not be attributed to him individually.)
