Giovanni Bacarella

Giovanni Bacarella is a Principal at FTV Capital, a growth equity firm founded in 1998 that has raised over $10.2 billion and invested in ~149 companies across enterprise technology & services and financial technology & services. He joined FTV in 2017 as an associate, was later promoted to vice president, and was promoted to principal on September 3, 2025 (part of a six-person promotion class announced by the firm). He is a member of FTV's enterprise technology and services investment team.

Before FTV, Gio was an investment banking analyst in the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) at Lazard Frères & Co., where he executed mergers and acquisitions for banks, asset managers, and broker-dealers — experience that maps closely to FTV's fintech and financial-services investing focus. He holds a BA in Ethics, Politics and Economics from Yale University.

Over his tenure he has been involved in a number of FTV portfolio investments and has taken board roles; for example, following FTV's $43 million growth investment in wealthtech platform Masttro in March 2023, Gio joined Masttro's board of directors alongside FTV principal Brent Fierro. Outside of work, his firm bio lists interests including creative writing, landscape photography, hiking, snowboarding, hockey, and Italian cinema.

• Targets B2B software, payments, capital-markets/wealth infrastructure, and tech-enabled services businesses — often companies that benefit from FTV's "Global Partner Network" of corporate and executive relationships.
• Says yes to durable, scaling businesses in enterprise tech and financial services where FTV can lead and add value through its operating network; his Lazard FIG background makes him particularly well-suited to financial-institution and wealthtech deals.
