Background
Greg Gartin is a Partner at RVE Partners (also branded as Rift Valley Equity Partners), a private investment firm founded in 2014 that concentrates on middle-market control-equity opportunities. The firm's principals cite more than 25 years of collective private equity experience and describe an approach centered on providing "patient capital" and hands-on operational involvement rather than pursuing quick returns. RVE is headquartered at 7 World Trade Center (250 Greenwich St.) in New York, with an additional office in Toronto.
Gartin joined RVE in 2016. Prior to RVE, he was an investment banking Associate in the Consumer & Retail group at RBC Capital Markets, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and capital-raising activities. His earlier career also includes experience at Merrill Lynch. At RVE, his work centers on driving long-term value creation by partnering with management teams, with the firm's activity concentrated in aerospace, defense, and industrial manufacturing.
Gartin graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Business Administration from Georgetown University and earned an MBA from Columbia Business School. He works alongside RVE's other principals: David Caputo (Founder and Managing Partner, a former RBC Capital Markets Director and CFA charterholder who chairs the board of the firm's aerospace platform, WHI), Partner Mark Woolgar (a Canadian M&A lawyer and founder of law firm WVCD), and Partner Peter Kim.
Much of RVE's realized activity has been built around WHI, its aerospace platform, which has assembled four operating entities since 2014. The firm makes control equity investments and emphasizes risk avoidance, transaction expertise, and active post-investment support to improve company performance.
