Gregory Allen

Gregory C. Allen is Callan LLC’s chief executive officer and chief research officer. Callan describes him as leading the firm and overseeing fund sponsor consulting, trust advisory, database, client report services, operations, and research and education groups, including public and private markets research, capital markets research, and the Callan Institute.

Allen joined Callan’s San Francisco office in 1988 as an analyst focused on capital markets research, asset allocation, liability analysis, and manager structure analysis. In 1993, he took over Callan’s Operations and Capital Markets Research groups, where he oversaw a redesign and implementation of the firm’s database management and performance measurement systems. He became director of research in 2000, president in 2007, and CEO in 2017.

He is a member of Callan’s Management Committee, Institute Advisory Committee, Investment Committee, Board of Directors, and is a shareholder of the firm. He earned both an MS in applied economics and a BA in economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
