Guillem Laporta

Guillem Laporta is a Partner at Ysios Capital, one of Spain's leading life-sciences venture capital firms. He joined Ysios on 25 September 2018, initially as Principal, and has since been elevated to Partner. In his role he is responsible for sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities and for representing Ysios on the boards of its portfolio companies, as well as supporting investor communications.

Before Ysios, Laporta spent roughly five years (joining in 2013) as an Associate at the Edmond de Rothschild Group in Paris — the biotech investment team that later became Andera Partners. There he worked on the execution of multiple investments across Europe and the United States, several of which produced notable exits: Reviral (acquired by Pfizer), Axonics Modulation (acquired by Boston Scientific), Sanifit (acquired by Vifor) and Verona Pharma (NASDAQ: VRNA). He began his career on the life-sciences team at Caixa Capital Risc in Barcelona, giving him roughly 15 years of accumulated venture and life-sciences investing experience.

Laporta is a CFA charterholder and holds two bachelor's degrees from Barcelona universities — Biotechnology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and Business Administration from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra — a combination of scientific and financial training that fits Ysios's drug-development focus.

Ysios Capital, founded in 2008, manages more than €400 million across its funds (Ysios BioFund I, €65M in 2008; Ysios BioFund II Innvierte, €126.4M in 2016; and Ysios BioFund III, €216M, closed in 2021), and is backed by investors including the European Investment Fund. The firm has invested in more than 40 biotech companies and counts six NASDAQ listings and roughly ten M&A exits among its outcomes.

• Modality- and disease-agnostic within therapeutics — the portfolio covers neuropsychiatry, women's health/reproductive medicine, hematology and more.
• Geography: ~80% Europe (especially Spain), ~20% North America.
• Newer activity skews even earlier-stage: in March 2026 Ysios launched InceptionBio, a ~€100M fund focused on technology transfer and company creation alongside universities and research centers.
